"What, no wine?" teased Beverly, impressed with the range of small items that he kept on board.
"Maybe…" Jesse teased back at her. He turned to face her in the close quarters of the cabin. She was standing with her back to the steps that led down from the cockpit. Jesse leaned into her and she yielded, pressing her buttocks, then her shoulders against the steps. Jesse's weight against her and the gentle rocking of Serenity caused her to flush and the glow felt good. She slowly encircled his waist with her arms and loosely held one wrist with the other hand. She pulled him toward her and Jesse responded by moving his chest and shoulders toward her as well.
Jesse took her lower lip gently in his teeth and let loose only after his lips had taken over that hold. He pulled on her lip with his mouth as it slowly stretched then slipped from his grasp. Then both mouths formed a quiet smile and the couple's eyes engaged one another. They kissed softly, warmly. The night was young.
Gazing at Beverly's face, but keeping still, Jesse lingered over the moment and finally said, "I have a zin, and maybe a shiraz."
Smiling back at Jesse, Beverly whispered in an uncharacteristically throaty voice. "Tough decision. We may need both."
"Hmm," said he. "We may indeed."
