Jeff had outlived his usefulness to the Boyers. He was purchased [at age seven] as a playmate for their daughter, but now [at age fourtenn] he was no longer desired for that purpose. Jeffery Dean Boyer, the "Bought and Paid For" commodity, was to be discarded. This to me was the most egregious of the cruelties inflicted upon Jeff; and the most outrageous.
